10.9.2010 & 10.23.2010 Update

October 9th saw us out at the Hartford Marathon.  Thousands of people were in Bushnell Park again, and we had quite a number of men to get the gospel out.  There was enough to have a pair of men at several different stations around the park, while another young man and I went farther down the marathon route.  We were able to talk to one couple who received the tracts and asked about our church.  The man had been drinking, but we were able to encourage him and the woman with him to read the tract, read the Bible and try to get into a good church.

Today was a special blessing in several ways.  We had a first-timer whose name was Ed come out on the streets with us.  Since he was new, I paired up with him while Harry and Dave set up the scripture posters near Center Churchand preached, and Isaac and Herb hit the pavement down Main Street.
The Lord had laid a specific message upon my heart, and, once Ed and I had canvassed our side of Main Street, we parked in front of the Old State House and waited for an opportunity to preach.  When I began, I couldn't have been preaching more than a few minutes when a man came up to me and asked, "How can I get saved?"  Wow!  You don't hear that every day!  While I continued to preach, Ed took him aside and led him to the Lord!  Praise the Lord; he still saves souls!  His name was Chris Jacob.  He said he attended a Baptist church, but we couldn't extract the name from him.  In any case, he will need the Lord's help to grow now.

What an experience for a first-time street minister!  It just shows that God still works when we do things his way and lift up the name of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.John 12:32

Thanks for your prayers.  They are what keep us going!
