There were enough men out today to split up again--half towards downtown, and half to Park Street. I was with the group at Park Street, so I will relate the details of that half of the work done today.
As soon as we arrived, Brother Elisha began preaching in Spanish. Immediately following, Harry picked up in English, then again in Spanish. What a blessing to have some bi-lingual men, as all of Hartford, but especially this area, is heavily populated with Hispanics. There were definitely some people listening in, and we had a little interruption from an onlooker (though not in a negative way--he just wanted to wipe the sweat off of Harry's brow while he was preaching).
The preaching, though it reverberated amongst the crowds on the sidewalk, was not reaching the crowds in the green, so we crossed the street, and I began preaching at the head of the green. Once I was done, Harry picked up where I left off, and I went to talk to a young lady who I had noticed listening intently while I was preaching. Her name was Tanya, and she has been clean for twenty-three days. She was very excited when I told her about our Reformers Unanimous ministry, and that they would pick her up right across the street from where we were standing. She is not saved. Pray that she comes to RU and hears the gospel.
After Harry had finished preaching, another man named Michael approached us, and we were able to give him the gospel thoroughly, though he tried to duck and dodge the conviction he felt every time we answered his questions or rebuffed his arguments. Despite that, we had a good conversation, and left him on good terms, though still lost.
Dave B. and the others had a time of preaching down by the Center Church, and were able to talk to a man named Hu who was probably not saved.
It was a great day to be out. If you don't come out, but you can, you are missing a great opportunity and a blessing! Come on out!
