We preached and handed out tracts at the St. Patrick's Day Parade last week. You can watch the video of it below.

Many tracts went out, a lot of preaching, but we also were able to deal one-on-one with people during the day, too.

One particular occurrence happened as we were making our way back to the preaching area when a group of young people came by. I offered the person at the head of the group a tract, but they refused. Following the "herd mentality," each subsequent person in the group refused to take a tract--except the last one. A young man at the back took it and asked me in all sincerity what it was. When I told him it would tell him what the Lord Jesus Christ did for him, and how he could have eternal life, he told me, "I'm going to read this!" We briefly introduced ourselves, and he left to catch up with his group. Thank God he didn't just "go with the flow" of his group. Pray that the Lord has, and will, open his eyes to the truth of the gospel.

Thanks again for praying, enjoy the video!

We closed out the last Saturday of street preaching in 2015 with a good turnout and some good as well as not-so-good reception!

Seven men were on Main St. to preach the gospel this past Saturday, praise the Lord!

The not-so-good reception came in the form of a young woman who claimed to be a Christian and argued that our banners and signs were not at all good Christian behavior, and that we were all a "bunch of @#!!%* fakes!" When we challenged HER behavior as un-Christian she began to get really irate! I calmly asked her that if she was a Christian as she claimed, could she please tell me what the gospel was. She then threatened to "punch me in my @#$!% face!" Needless to say, there wasn't much point in continuing the conversation, but she got a good 10 minute message while she was waiting for her bus as we preached on the sidewalk.

A second man we met initially refused a tract, but when questioned stopped to talk. He claimed that he trusted only in Christ for his salvation, but when Herb asked what he would reply when standing before God, he responded, "I've done the best I could do." It was his own admission that he was relying on himself that allowed us a very good opportunity to present the gospel, and by the time he had to leave, you could see that the lights were going on in his head, and hopefully in his heart as well. His name was George. He ended up taking a tract, and thanking us for explaining to him "the way of God more perfectly" as it were.

He was very receptive, and left with a tract and a promise to read the John & Romans booklet we gave him as well.

The last encounter was with a man who spoke very little English, but who received a tract in his native tongue of Hindi. He stood and read the tract, and then filled out the questionnaire on the back leaving his contact info. He seemed to indicated that he received the message and believed it, but the language barrier made it hard to tell. Pete is trying to contact someone who knows the language to interface with him. His name was Ashok.

Thank you all for praying! It's been a good year, and we're looking forward to what God will do next year!
One thought for today: the Bible says in II Timothy 2:25 "In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;" I may have blown it a little on this angle today...
It was special blessing to have with us a newcomer named Carlos. A native of Peru, and in the country for about six years, he had just visited church for the first time Wednesday, and was out publicking proclaiming the gospel on Saturday! On top of him preaching on the street for the first time, we also had the opportunity to show him how his NIV English/Spanish parallel came far short of God's pure, preserved word, the Authorized Version of the Bible. The look on his face when he saw how the NIV translators had corrupted the words of God was priceless--and I was able to capture it on video! He immediately threw away his NIV, and we gave him a trustworthy Spanish version of the Bible to complement his King James Bible.

There is so much street evangelism going on which I don't have time to document, but suffice it to say that the preaching is going on at least 3 or 4 times a week in as many different locations. We are commissioned to sow the seed of the word of God without "analyzing" what kind of ground it falls on--just get the seed out! We have had numerous opportunities to speak one-on-one with folks. We have even had some come out to church, but the primary goal is that the word of God would take root in their hearts and bear fruit. The seed is sown and watered by us, but the increase is given by God. Come on out and join the work!
God bless you all, and keep praying!
It's not like the in-your-face, heckling, debating hardness--I would welcome that. It's the apathetic, glassy-eyed, unmoved hardness that causes people to walk by an offered gospel tract without eye contact or any other response. Quite honestly, I sensed that was on the other guys' hearts today, too.

God gave us great liberty to preach, though, and blessed us with warm sunshine even though temps were in the teens.
While there was plenty of the hardness described above, we still had the opportunity to speak with several folks. There is one gentleman in particular I would ask you to pray for. His name is Jim. He stood and intently watched and listened to Dave preach for about 10 minutes. I afterward approached him with a tract, after which a conversation ensued. He told me he was searching for God. After dealing with some basic questions, he noticed his bus had arrived. He expressed his disappointment that our conversation was cut short, but we were able to give him a Bible before he boarded his bus. He seemed to be sincerely searching--and it was the PREACHING that stopped him!
"And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which

Last Friday saw some fruit for their labours!

While Harry was preaching, Herb saw a young man
standing a few feet away from him staring directly at him. He walked over to him
because he suspected a possible confrontation but he said he was just listening
to the preaching. Herb was able to talk to him one-on-one for about 15 minutes and
explain the gospel of Jesus Christ to him.
The devil was clearly trying to
distract him as another person came up to them and started swearing at them. Herb was
about to tell him to go away but this young man (Jose) beat him to it and told
him he wanted to listen to what Herb had to say and not to bother them! The heckler
then walked away. As Herb continued to talk to Jose, his phone began ringing
constantly but he did not pay any attention to it. A few minutes later, Jose was
bowing his knees and asking God to forgive him for his sins!

It really does make
it all worth it for one soul's salvation! Please pray for Jose. He is pictured here talking with Herb.
It was a decent crowd for a men's game. We had enough men to cover two entrances, which was a blessing; so many people get missed if we can only cover one.

Most people were in a hurry to get out of the cold (in the teens today--aren't we suffering for Jesus...), so the tracts handed out were sparse. That's when the preaching, scripture signs and banners really do their work. You can refuse to take a gospel tract, but you can't help but hear the preaching, and most people can't take their eyes off of the banners. Watch the latest video on the Publick Ministry YouTube channel and watch the eyes of the people who are trying to ignore us wander upward toward the banner right above the camera! It's great!

I've always said that people need to go out street preaching at least once or twice to understand what this world really thinks about Jesus Christ and Christians. One tolerant, kind gentleman made the comment in reference to us, "Where are the Muslims when you need them?" Think about that--they would rather see us murdered by adherents of a false religion than listen to the gospel of Jesus Christ! We aren't trying to kill ANYONE who disagrees with us: that's what religion does! Jesus Christ demonstrated his love toward Muslims, Catholics, Baptists, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists, rich, poor, black, white, Asian, etc. etc. etc. when he laid down his life at Calvary, and we would just like everyone else to know that they can get in on it!

Well, hope you enjoy the latest videos. Head on over to the channel and check them out! God bless, and thank you for your prayers!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11149084627892514067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533033988040704241.post-46038388805436010232014-11-16T17:40:00.000-08:002014-11-16T17:40:54.403-08:00Update - 11.8.2014There is a benefit to being faithful in the ministry. We have been going out to Hartford street preaching for over thirteen years. While Harry was preaching today, a cop started strolling over with that look. When I intercepted him, he asked me how long we were planning on being there. I told him probably an hour or two, to which he responded rather incredulously, "Really?" He looked like he would have a problem with this, so I added, "...yeah, we have been doing this every other weekend for over thirteen years." He looked surprised, and said, "Oh... okay" and then walked away. It is not really difficult to be faithful--you just don't stop doing what you're doing!

The preaching went out as usual, and we had the opportunity to deal with a couple folks.

One gentleman walked by, refusing the tract, but then turned and said, "What I really need is some food; do you have that?" I told him I could help him out, and bought him lunch at Burger King. This opened him up, and I was able to talk to him about his soul, his life situation, and leave him with a gospel tract, which he promised to read. "If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And
one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the
body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:15-17 I realize that these people's need is spiritual, but sometimes it is so hard to get past the physical infirmities until they see that someone cares about them. This man's name was Tommy. Pray for his salvation, and pray that he would get more hours at his job.

Anthony came up and asked about one of our banners. After spending some time talking to him, he emotionally broke down and revealed that he was struggling with discouragement about his failures in his walk with God. I was able to show him some scriptures about forgiveness and God's will for him, and then pray with him, for which he seemed sincerely grateful. He responded with this gratitude later by coming up to us with a box of coffee from Dunkin Donuts, which was appreciated considering the colder weather today.

We also ran into a lady whom we have seen on and off since the first years of this ministry. She requested we pray for her brother and sister in law Richard and Priscilla. The woman's name is Dorothy, and I'm not certain of her spiritual condition, but she probably needs to be saved.

Thank you for praying!
Most people didn't want to hang around in the rain, so we didn't have as much of a static audience as usual.
Despite this, we still had the opportunity to reach thousands of people with the preached word, banners and scripture signs, and several hundred tracts were handed out.

There were many Christians there who gave us a word of encouragement, including Pastor Dean from Bangor Maine who stopped by to say hello after his son finished the race.

Thanks to all of you who came out despite the weather. I posted a video of the work at the marathon on my new YouTube channel PublickMinistry. If you would like to keep up with any videos we post about the street preaching ministry, click over to there and subscribe.

My recent excursion to the WWE RAW wrestling event at the XL center in Hartford caused me to consider something: street preaching is "raw" Christianity.
Granted--American Christians know nothing of things like the persecutions suffered by Christians of the past, or Christians in oppressed countries even now. But allow me to muse within the realm of American Christianity.

Street preaching brings you face to face with people--often for an extended period of time. This is not like the situation where you can hand a tract to someone at a cash register and scurry away quickly thereafter. These people have opportunity to react to what you are saying.
That being said, reactions run the gamut. I have received everything from people chanting "Satan, Satan, Satan...," to "shut the ---- up," to "can you help me?" to "thank you for being out here and doing this." A street preacher cannot be harried, distracted or caught off guard by comments or questions thrown his way. For example, I was handed a phone by a very fidgety man who was talking to his therapist. Over the phone she asked me if I was a man of God, and could I calm her client down. THAT was weird! But it gave me opportunity to talk to the man about the gospel.

Besides different reactions, there are the range of different religions, cults and philosophies to deal with. Fifteen years ago I would have had no idea how to deal with a Jehovah's Witness, Muslim, Mormon, atheist, homosexual, Pentecostal, etc.--and, believe me, I'm still learning. But it was the constant exposure on the streets to people of these persuasions that sharpened me more than if I had just sat in church, let my "little light" shine in lifestyle evangelism, pass out a tract once in a while and hoped no one stopped me to talk.

Then there is the ridicule--so what. It is a displeasure to the flesh, but so is anything righteous. Can I deal with the insults, the profanity, the blasphemy, the threats without reacting in the flesh? I will have to if I am to have any impact on those people. They watch how you react. I pray each time I go out that the Holy Spirit would have control (as he should always), and guide my thoughts, words, and countenance. I have had several instances where someone reacted harshly or rudely just to see what I would do, and then afterward received a tract and a gospel witness because I responded appropriately.

Jesus Christ was accused of receiving sinners and eating with them. Street preaching will, quite honestly, bring you into contact (sometimes quite literally) with all types of what many would consider unsavory people. Convicts, panhandlers, prostitutes, drug addicts, drunks, sodomites, blasphemers, the mentally disturbed, and the homeless are just some of the people we minister to. If I withdraw myself from ministering to these people because of their condition, I have missed my purpose.

You cannot minister to crowds of indifferent people for long before it grieves you at your heart to see so many people reject the gospel, either through outright refusal or just plain apathetic neglect. Imagine how the perfect, holy Lamb of God who could read people's hearts must have felt as he saw time after time people refuse to believe on him
This is one thing I've been asked: "Why do you keep going out when no one wants to hear?" Reception does not drive evangelism--the commandment of God, the love of Christ, and the need does. Lord willing, I will be going out "until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate," Isaiah 6:11

Preach on the streets, and you will see just what this world thinks about your Saviour. Preach on the streets, and you will see just how blinded the god of this world has made people. Preach on the streets, and you will have your faith and beliefs challenged. Preach on the streets, and you will have your heart broken for men and women. Preach on the streets--and you will experience raw Christianity.
Once again, it has been a while since I've put in an update--not due to any slow-down in the ministry, though. We have been graciously enabled by God to preach the gospel in downtown Hartford, specifically focusing on the Park Street area.

The sign above is a reminder of one of the reasons we are out here--Hell is Real. If what the Lord did for us is not enough--if the call to be ambassadors for Christ is not enough--can we at least consider the plight awaiting a vast majority of people we see and meet each day?

Street preaching provides an opportunity to deal with situations we will never face settling on our lees, at ease in Zion. During the preaching, we had a man decide he wanted to preach his opposing view of Christ while we were preaching. Rather than have a war of words and create confusion, We stopped and let him finish his diatribe. Once he was finished, we addressed the crowd, as Elijah had on Mt. Carmel, to make a choice between the two "opinions." We are not frightened or disturbed about opposing viewpoints. If someone has something better than forgiveness of sin, reconciliation with God, eternal life and life more abundantly--for free, I'd love to hear it, (although, I have yet to have hear a better deal)!

One sobering note this week is the following. We had not been gone from
Park St. and the green more than an hour or so when a man was gunned
down not yards from where we were preaching. It was one of two
shootings that day in Hartford. (New England's rising star--yeah,
right!) The sobering thought is that the man who was killed may have
been in the crowd listening to the preaching not minutes before he
passed into eternity. I hope he was, and I hope he repented in his
heart and trusted Christ before he died. You just never know when that
appointment with death is.

Thanks for praying for us. We appreciate it more than you know, and it is part of the labour of this ministry as well as those that hit the pavement.
Able--not of ourselves--by by the grace God has given us to do this ministry. We have no sufficiency in ourselves to do this, but our sufficiency is of God.

There were eleven men and a lady that labored with us today. As usual we pretty much depleted our supply of almost 2,000 tracts. All we had left to work with was the banners, scripture signs, and our voices, all of which we made good use of.

Several good conversations were had by most of us, and there was the usual ridicule and mockery. Regardless of the apparent outcome, the gospel was given to several thousand people by the tracts, signs and preaching. I've attached a few photos and a short video taken in the area where most of the preaching was done.

Thanks to those of you who came out to help us, and thanks to those of you who "stayed by the stuff" and prayed for us.
<![endif]--> The people of Hartford had another opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached loud and clear today. Only the judgment seat will tell how many of these people came to know Christ as their Saviour.

We were able to give a tract to one woman named Melanie. After talking with her for a few moments, she said that she was not saved but knew that Christ died for her sins. She also said that her mother had recently gotten saved! After talking with her, she stood nearby reading the tract we gave her for several minutes. Please pray for Melanie.

As we were standing out there on the street, one man came by and shouted joyfully that he was “washed in the blood!” Many times on the street we have been able to encourage other saints to live for the Lord. This is also a valuable part of this ministry. Thank you to all who pray for this work.

With seven men to do the work, we set up the banners and signs right in the middle of the park where all the runners and spectators were milling around, and preached the word for almost 4 hours!
If you haven't noticed, people are totally unconcerned about God, sin, their eternal soul, and where they will spend eternity. To give you an idea, here are some actual responses we got to our typical evangelistic pitches of "Can I offer you something from the scriptures today?" or "Find out what Jesus Christ did for you!" Here they are:

"No THANK you!"
"I already have a church home."
"Do you know where the beer
tent is?"
"Isn't that a bit graphic?"
"I'm a believer, too!"
"I worship
Satan."
"Where's the beer tent?"
"You're not going to win people this way."
"Thank you, this is just what I needed!"
"<expletive>{expletive}"
"I'm born
again, brother!"
"Hail Satan."
"I think 26.2 is enough [to get me to
heaven.]"
"No thanks, I love my sin."</expletive>
"What? Do you think marathon runners are a bunch of evil people?"
"Are these tickets to the beer
tent?"

While some of these were either an encouragement or on the humorous side (I think I was asked every hour where the beer tent was), most of these statements show the absolutely LOST condition of men and women today. We need to pray for the lost. We need to pray for laborers to win them--and we need to be willing to be one of those laborers.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533033988040704241.post-6753657228001472162013-08-24T15:47:00.001-07:002013-08-24T16:01:21.750-07:008.24.2013 UpdateIt seems like every week we go out, there is a subtle theme to the day. Today, the Lord saw fit to cross our paths with numerous born-again believers who either encouraged us in the work, or were encouraged by us.

One Jamaican woman named Dawn (pictured at the right) stopped to ask us if we were afraid of being arrested for what we were doing. We told her no. She proceeded to tell us how she had spent several days in the Niantic women's prison, and how the Lord opened her eyes to the great need in that prison. The Muslims have great influence in there, but the word of God is lacking. She was almost thrown in solitary for her stand for the Lord, and because of the Muslim's intolerance for Christianity.
She was a great encouragement to us, and reminded us again that there is such a great need for the word of God EVERYWHERE.

One young man we met was named Isaiah. He had met us some weeks ago, but was getting on his bus at the time. He told us that the Lord had dealt with him about evangelizing like we were doing. When he saw us today, he immediately stopped to help us pass out tracts while he could. We were able to encourage him in his Christian walk as well.

Another young man we had met previously stopped to talk. He was recently saved, and also interested in getting involved in evangelistic work. He asked some questions about dealing with different responses to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and we were able to instruct him through the scriptures about those things. His name was Ray.

There was a man who stopped by that had heard Dave B. and Cam on the Christian radio station several months back, and had been trying to get in touch with them. He finally did, right where we do our ministry--on the streets of Hartford.

As always, the preaching and tracts went forth, and the gospel of Jesus Christ was proclaimed.

Right before we got in our cars to leave, another man who was also a believer stopped us and chatted for a while. He lives right around the corner from where we often preach, and has heard us for years. You never know who is listening. You might be encouragement to a brother in Christ, or a testimony to a lost sinner--but if we let our conduct slip, we could be a stumbling block as well... Consider it when you start to get weary in well doing.

To finish it off, I'm adding a video which hopefully will stir us up. As well, it serves to awaken folks to the need of the lost, and our ability to fill that need.
It was a sad commentary on our society to see thousands of young kids, mostly girls, flaunting their bodies and flocking to their idol. One of our guys was castigated by a mom for pointing out that he was an IDOL. I guess it's okay for them to call him that, but not for the street preachers.

Another mom scolded me for striking the contrast that Jesus Christ loved them enough to die for them, while Justin Bieber only wanted their money. Think about it--not only did their idol leave them hanging for over 1-1/2 hours before he showed up, but do you think he really cares about his fans? --enough to die for them? People need to get back to reality, and Jesus Christ IS reality-- he is eternal life!

On July 27th we had a good time out on the street and were able to talk to several people at length. One woman had a testimony of salvation, but was having doubts as she was struggling with alcohol and going through rehab. Her name was Chantelle.

I noticed one woman watching us as we preached, so went over to talk with her. Her name was Dakota. She told me that she regularly sees and hears us out on the streets preaching, and had questions about salvation. I was able to begin to give her the plan of salvation and leave her with a tract before her bus came. Pray that she has understood and received the truth of the gospel.

A young man named Kalim was dealt with as well, but did not receive Christ at that time.

If you haven't seen the pictures, we stick over a dozen scriptures signs into the top of the fence posts behind us. One man started at one end and wrote every reference down from each sign. He is pictured at the right. Another woman was going down the line reading the signs carefully, so I finally asked her, "What do you think about them?" She asked me what it all meant, so I began to explain. She seemed interested, and when I asked her name, she told me it was Delilah (interesting). She didn't know she had a Biblical name, but that really was of no consequence. She just seemed really intrigued about the scripture signs. Pray that God uses the scriptures in her heart and life.

Two people asked us to pray with them. One was a woman named Heather whose friends and family were going through major health issues. She herself was not saved, but allowed us to pray for her and them, and received a tract after we talked with her for a while. Another woman named Belinda, who had a testimony of salvation, asked us to pray for her upcoming surgery. We did, and were able to encourage her through the scriptures.

One man gave on of our tracts back to my son, having written on the decision page that he had already received Christ but wanted information about the coming of Christ and end times prophecy. His name was Ibrahim, and I was able to get his email and home address to be able to give him some material.

We had the privilege of having Brother Norton of the Seminole String Band bring his family out to sing and play as well. Besides them, there were the five of us, which allowed us to have banners on both sides of the streets.

The Lord greatly blessed us as we saw several people trust Christ as their personal Saviour this week!

A group of three people began talking with Brother Norton. They are pictured on the right. One was a woman who was unsure about her salvation, and the two others were young men named Abraham and Jose. Once the woman got her salvation straightened out, Jose bowed his head and prayed right there. Abraham was about to pray when their bus showed up, but the lady assured Bro. Norton, "I'll get him [saved] on the bus!" We prayed--and pray--that he did receive Christ immediately after he got on the bus.

Another woman named Vanessa came to us, and wanted to get a ride to church Sunday. One of our men sacrificially made the trip to Manchester and brought her to church Sunday, where she walked down the aisle during the invitation and was saved! Hallelujah! You know she got it, because she desired to have someone bring her again for Sunday evening, which we accommodated. Pray for her growth in the Lord.

Below are a couple more pictures. One more of the Norton family, and another of Harry preaching in the rain a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for your prayers! These are souls to your account!
Things are changing in this country, but we still have total liberty to go out on the streets and preach Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

A little catch-up: the St. Patrick's Day parade went well. Many tracts were handed out, and the banners were put to good use.

We also, by chance (Ecclesiastes 9:11), had a street preaching day coincide with the Sandy Hook Run for the Families, so many people were able to be reached with the gospel.

Last week two of us and my son went out to our regular spot on Main St. We had a very good response. One Spanish lady came up to us and asked if she could help us pass out tracts. She could not speak hardly any English, but she took a stack of Spanish and English tracts, and for 1/2 an hour stood with us and helped to spread the gospel!

We were also able to speak with a young Muslim woman. She came up to us intent on showing us that the King James Bible had a verse saying that God did not have a son. When she could not find it, we showed her the verse in Proverbs 30 where God asked HER a question: "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and WHAT IS HIS SON'S NAME, if thou canst tell?" She replied, "Can I talk to you again sometime?" She again questioned us on why we didn't believe Mohammed existed, and what was the difference between him and Jesus. I told her, "I believe he existed, the difference is that Mohammed is dead, and Jesus Christ is alive!" We were also able to show the deity of Christ through John 8:58, which again gave her pause. She again said she would like to talk at a future date, so we gave her some info to get back in touch with us. Pray that God would use the scriptures she saw to remove the blindness of her heart.

Several other people stopped briefly to hear the gospel, but I want to share one experience in hopes that it will be instructive to those doing personal evangelistic work.
During the preaching, a man whom we have seen several times before stopped and said immediately that he wanted to get saved. I know that he has made several professions, so I was a little concerned as to his understanding of the gospel. I spent several minutes going over the gospel and why he needed it. He seemed to understand and agree with everything. I asked if he would be willing to kneel right there and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour, which he said he was willing to do. We kneeled and I asked if he wanted me to pray before he did. He immediately said, "No, I want you to lead me in the sinner's prayer." I told him that he understood everything that I had said to him, and that he could just use the best words he knew to tell God the same and ask Christ to save him. He immediately became extremely agitated, got up and said, "Never mind, just forget it!", threw down the tract and gospel of John & Romans he was holding, and stormed off. I was surprised--sort of--but it was obvious that he was not ready. Pray for him; his name is Chris.
I tell all this to say, if someone will not do the best they can to tell God what they have already admitted to you, they are either not sincere, or do not fully understand salvation yet. This man wanted ME to talk for him. Whether he didn't understand, or was depending on "saying the right words" is entirely known to God. I would rather have the experience make him think and later truly get saved, rather than give him some false assurance the rest of his life. I will NEVER lead someone in prayer. Do what you will with that.

Thanks for your prayers. Please continue to pray, and, if the Lord impresses upon you, please come out and join us in our efforts to spread the gospel.

We purchased 200 Chick tracts with a Christmas theme to use today. Jack Chick skillfully takes the Dickens' story A Christmas Carol and retells it weaving in the gospel throughout. If you like, you can read it by clicking here.
All 200 tracts were gone by the end of the day, as well as many other tracts of our usual fare.

We had the opportunity to talk with two men who both professed salvation, but were dealing with issues or doubts in their lives. Their names were Allan and Gary.
Gary was an ex-drug addict, but still dealing with the addiction to cigarettes. He took a tract for both himself and his fiance, Michelle.
Allan told us he was saved, but was not 100% certain of having eternal life. We had time to quickly show him from the Bible that God wants him to KNOW he has eternal life (I John 5:13). He admitted he was trusting only in Christ, and not in works or baptism, but it seemed it was the first time he had heard that salvation was a "know-so" not a "hope-so."

Herb had the opportunity also to talk with a young man named Louis. He approached him asking what we were all about, then asked the question, "So, what do I have to do to be saved?" (I wonder if he works in a Phillipian jail.) Herb went through the gospel, and it was apparent he understood and knew what to do. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, he felt like he needed to wait until he was home to settle the issue of salvation. Pray that the Lord gives this man no rest or peace until he makes a decision to receive Christ. It is so easy for Satan to steal the seed in the amount of time he was willing to wait.

The preaching today hit on the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, as well as answering some of the questions about the tragedy in Newtown the past week. Everyone seems to be asking, "Where was God?" Unfortunately, we have pushed him out of our schools, government, and lives. The only answer is to invite him back in and submit to his word. People's hearts are more tender and inquisitive after such horrible events, and I believe that God is using even this tragedy to draw men and women back to himself.

Thanks for your prayers. God bless you all. We are looking forward to a great year in 2013, and for the Lord's return--maybe even before 2013! Even so, come, Lord Jesus. We have had many opportunities to minister in Hartford these past few
months, not the least of which was the ING Hartford Marathon last week.
Once again, thousands of runners, spectators, officials and booth
operators were there. Pastor Getto redid the tract from last marathon in in full
color, and it was a big hit at the race. One woman even made the
comment, "This is the best one of these (tracts) that I've seen; it
really gets people to look inside!" That is what we are hoping people
did with them--look inside and find the good news of salvation through
Jesus Christ and RECEIVE it!

One gentleman came running irate out of the restaurant you see in the background when the preacher declared that Mohammed and Buddha were liars. After intercepting and speaking to him for a short time, he actually received a tract and went his way. We are not out there to intentionally provoke people, but the truth of the gospel has a way of doing that with people who "oppose themselves" as Paul wrote in II Timothy 2:25. But, as is written in that same verse, we strive with meekness to instruct them.
The same is true with this lady on the right. Initially she claimed to be saved, but when I questioned her about how she had assurance of that, I got answers that included everything from baptism to church membership, from Holy Spirit cliches to relatives who were in the ministry. I tried to reason with her out of the scriptures how that she needed a personal decision of putting her faith in the finished work of Christ, but was mostly met with a "why are you judging me" type attitude. It is sad. People are so falsely secure in useless trappings of religion and not truly secure in the One who himself is life eternal.
This is Domingo. After staying and listening to us preach pretty much the whole time we were at Park Street, I had the opportunity to give him the complete gospel. You could see his eyes tear-up when I described the way in which Christ was our substitute on the cross. He would not receive Christ at that time, though. We assisted him by giving him a ride to the rehab center at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
We had a special push to get some new people involved in the street preaching this week. We had several new guys come out. Our pastor and his wife were also able to make it out with us, which was a special blessing! A brother in Christ named Chris who is stationed with the Marines near Stratford was also able to come out with us and bring his banner as well. There is a great shot of all the banners lined up on Main Street!
You can see a shot of him dealing with them here. They expressed much interest, and pastor was able to go back several times to continue talking with them.

Todd and I did a circuit around through Consitution Plaza and were able to speak with a couple folks directly. Frank was one of them we both dealt with, and Todd dealt individually with a man named Lebert. Both needed salvation.

We were able to give a Spanish Bible to a man named Alex who had requested one,and two others that Herb and Dave dealt with were Joseph and Chris.

All in all, it was a great day for the distribution of the word of God through preaching and tracts. There were at least 9 men and women that came out and did the work.
Today was another great day weather-wise for preaching the gospel. One of the guys that came out for the first time in a while last time has gotten bit by the street ministry bug! It's addicting!

We have at our disposal now 5 banners! The two 4x8 banners we put back-to-back and it's a great message: Christ died for our sins on the one side, and the penalty of rejecting that payment on the other.

It was one of those days where the Lord saw fit to bless and encourage us with a number of believers in our way today. There are still 7,000 who have not bowed their knee to Baal!

A young man named Tom stopped and thanked us for what we were doing. He was very adamant in his views AGAINST evolution and such, but had no idea of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Another man named Aaron tried to hit me up for some money. I offered instead to buy him some food, which he resisted somewhat, because... well, you know-- he wanted the money for something else. In any case, I bought him some food, and gave it to him, all the while he was continuing to bum money from people. When he bummed a cigarette from a guy, I put it to him straight that the only way he was going to get deliverance from his addictions to cigarettes, booze and drugs was to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior, which he then proceeded to tell me he had done just last night! Ok... Pray for him and those like him that are bound in their sin.

While I was dealing with Aaron, Harry had started another conversation with a young man named Steve. He had been put-off by "judgmental Christians," but he was very open to talking about the scriptures, even inviting me to follow him to his bus stop so that I could show him things from the Bible. Pray that God would continue to deal with him through the scriptures in the tract he took.

As always, thanks for praying. That's the most important part of this ministry!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
